Australian Veterinary Clinic Rescued Rare Golden Possum That Looks Just Like Pikachu

By. Mahesh

Common Possums are commonly seen in forests and brushy habitats, but have you ever seen a rare golden possum? Their color is due to a rare mutation that causes the skin to have a minimal amount of melanin. Although it looks cool, it doesn’t really make them fair in the wild. When you are brilliant yellow, it is hard to hide from predators hence it’s not a nice characteristic of any animal living in the wild.

We have all been taught that there are no fairies and no cartoons at some point in our lives. We have evidence that they have all been wrong. The loveliest baby Possum has been located in Australia and the internet is certain that he is a Pikachu after additional investigations without any cover-up.

Luckily, a caring member of the public found Pikachu laying on the ground. She is just a baby – around five months old – and it’s believed presumably fallen off from her mother’s back. Her rescuer brought her to Melbourne’s Boronia Veterinary and Animal Hospital (BVCAH).

She belongs to a species of Possum called the Brushtail possum. These Possums tends to be grayish, but little Pikachu has a genetic abnormality that means there is not enough melanin. It is the same pigment that causes dark eyes, hair and skin. This condition has put the authorities in a difficult position as it cannot survive in the wild as it can be easily spotted by their prey.

Scientists were aware that this species existed, though they had never rescued a single one earlier, and their finding in social networks has become quite famous as it resembles the popular Pokémon species.

Pikachu was evaluated by vets and placed under the care of a wildlife carer although he was a little scared. Veterinarian Dr Stephen Reinisch told IFLScience that Pikachu is just one nickname since giving her a legitimate name could cause her carer to become too connected and that wouldn’t be a good idea since they are planning on releasing this animal back into the wild after it is fit enough.

There’re more golden possums out there and they’re the cutest little creatures ever.
