True Friends Are Never Too Busy When You Really Need Them
Have you ever texted your friends about something and gotten a reply four days later? Usually, late replies like that begin with “Heyy! Sorry I couldn’t reply sooner. I’ve just been too busy.”
But the truth is, they were not. Don’t get me wrong here, people can be legitimately busy. What I am saying here is that they had ample time to send a text. Typing a few sentences does not take an hour, right? Think about it. It is not too much to ask for, is it?
Too busy is a myth.
It is a total lie. No one is too busy that they can’t pick up their phones to type a text. All it takes is 30 seconds. It is just that they have no consideration as to what you may feel. You, your birthday, your birthday party, and really, your precious time do not mean anything to them. If they were ‘too busy’ to send a simple reply, then they are probably not your friend.
Your friends are the ones who take time out of their busy schedules to send you a reply, even if it says that they can’t make it. Friends know that too busy is not a response.
But what about the ones who were ‘too busy?’ what were they doing?
They were making time for other things.
No one is so busy that they can’t make an appearance at a party. No one is so busy that they can’t hang out and have coffee. No job is that demanding, no situation is so critical. No, they were not that busy. They were just making time for other people and other things. They were making plans for other things.
Yes, people have the right to decide what to prioritize. They have the right to choose. And there is nothing you can do. But you don’t have to stick around, waiting for them and hurt yourself.
If you did not get a reply, move on. Don’t wait for them. Don’t send that third text. They are not too busy, they just don’t care.
True friends are not too busy.
