The ceiling frescoes of this library in Prague were painted by Jan Hiebl. In 1781, director Karel Rafael Ungar established Biblioteca Nationalis, which is a collection of Czech language literature. And steps have been taken to digitalize the books as well. Some of the rare historical books from this collection have been sent to Google for scanning and they will be available on Google Books in the future.

Prague library is truly a rare and little-known treasure. And it is also associated with some little known facts. In fact, the Klementinum used to be the third largest Jesuit college in the world. Further, recording of local weather began there in 1775 and had continued ever since; it is featured in a novel by famous Spanish-language writer Jorge Luis Borges. This library is truly a treasure for those who have a thirst for knowledge!

And there is more!! The inside of this library is absolutely mesmerizing!! It has a very distinct philosophical vibe to it. With all the bookshelves, globes, antique-looking furniture, and the rustic golden touch it has, the library looks like something from a fairy tale movie.

It can make you travel back in time, to the times of Socrates and the Greek philosophers; the scenic landscaping of the library is truly amazing. And also, the ceiling paintings add up to the mesmerizing beauty of the library too!
