Leonardo DiCaprio is an all-time favorite actor of many people. Despite your age, you would have probably seen many of his movies including the world-famous romance, Titanic! But, DiCaprio is not only famous for his acting. He is also known as a naturalist. Throughout the years, the 44-years old award-winning actor has done many contributions to save the environment and he even has his fund through which he donates money for many environmental projects around the world.
Recently, his generosity was again highlighted because of his huge contribution to saving Amazon. Amazon burnt for weeks and the damage it cost to the ecosystem is pathetic. It will take hundreds of years to take Amazon back to its initial position but there are many things that we can do to speed up the procedure. Leonardo has donated $5 million from his pocket to save Amazon and there is no need to say that his generosity at this crucial moment means a lot!

According to CNN, Leonardo has promised $5 million to preserve and restore the Amazon forests through his environmental charity called Earth Alliance. He confirmed through Instagram that the funds will directly be donated to the local organizations such as the Instituto Raoni (Kayapo), the Instituto Socioambiental (ISA) and other indigenous communities of the region.

The organization tweeted that, “#EarthAlliance has formed an emergency Amazon Forest Fund with $5m to focus critical resources for indigenous communities and other local partners working to protect the biodiversity of the Amazon against the surge of fires,”

The recent reports from Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research said that more than 72,000 fires have broken out in the region, destroying huge acres of forest land. The destruction caused in the Amazon, an important source to fight global warming has invited worldwide attention. The announcement has come as a sign of relief to the sufferings of indigenous communities and the concerned environmental enthusiasts around the world.

Let’s all hope that we can take our Amazon back to its old form shortly!
