Imagine being in a place where you are completely secluded and isolated from the human intervention? All that you can see is lush greenery around you and it would simply be like being lost in safe heaven.
The chirpings of the birds, fresh air creating wonders in open space, and with no hard concrete structures to destroy your peace, this would be the ideal place for artists and nature lovers to get inspired and to have a moment of peace from their ordinary lives.
Perhaps, you might be wondering what we are talking about. This is about a fishing village in China that was swallowed by nature. This village is located in Shengsi, an archipelago of almost 400 islands at the mouth of China’s Yangtze River. It was once the home of over 2000 fishermen and it was abandoned back in the 1990s when the residents moved away to a better location. They had to struggle with daily problems related to the education of their kids and food deliveries and because of it, now the entire village has been swallowed by nature.
Now the town has become a huge site of tourist attraction and many people from all over the world are coming to Shengsi to see this beauty of nature. If you visit the village you can see how beds, furniture and other things inside homes covered in creeping vegetation and to be honest, this is a sight that you must see!
Even though the village is abandoned, few people still are living here. Sun Ayue is one of them who does not leave the village except for an occasional game of mahjong in the town across the hill. He lives here alone with no running electricity or water.
As a site of tourist attraction, many people like to roam in the deserted corridors and if you are someone who would also like to have a glance at this piece of nature, then this should be your next travel destination!
