After Seeing Students Use Money To Buy Food, Dog Uses Leaves To Get Some Too

Sometimes dogs tend to imitate human behaviors and the doggo in our story did exactly that. Negro the doggo was smart enough to buy his own food using leaves as a form of currency. The creature resides in the Diversified Technical Education Institute of Monterrey Casanare in Colombia.

The staff members there adopted the stray dog and now he roams around school premises. The students there would treat the doggo with cookies from the local store. However, one day Negro decided to get his own treats.

The intelligent doggo came up with the perfect plan to procure food without begging for it. Negro had visited the store with a leaf in his mouth and wagging his tail, making it apparent that the dog wanted a cookie.

The store attendant had been taken by surprise due to the dog’s intelligence and sold the animal a cookie. “He comes for cookies every day. He always pays with a leaf. It is his daily purchase,” explained Gladys Barreto, a longtime store attendant. Since leaves are abundant ensuring that Negro’s supply of money does not run out, the store came up with the idea to let the doggo buy treats only a few times a day.

“When you first see it, you almost want to cry. He’s found a way to make himself understood. He’s very intelligent,” expressed Angela Garcia Bernal, a teacher working in the education institute. The clever dog was inspired after seeing students exchange money for cookies and decided to come up with his own method of exchange, leaves for cookies.

Everyone was impressed by the dog’s smartness and admired him for his clever idea. We hope that the store continues to accept Negro’s leaf cash and that he never runs out of cookie treats.
