The most unexpected of friendships are also the most beautiful ones and this story stands as a testament to that. As Nick Guertin went out on a camping trip he came across an uninvited guest who made himself comfortable inside his tent. Since he had to use the restroom Nick woke up early and as soon as he unzipped the tent an orange cat ran right into his tent.
The creature then waited for Nick to return. After the human came back the cat snuggled up to him and seemed comfortable in his presence. The orange cat then head-butted the human and purred as if he were a long-lost friend of Nick’s. “I was like, ‘Oh, this is adorable,’” Nick expressed.
Nick was unsure as to whether the snuggling was a one-time occurrence. However, to his surprise, the cat visited him for the next few days as well. The creature was keen on spending more time with the human and would observe him while he cooked and stay beside him near the campfire.
Since Nick identified himself as a dog-lover he was not very familiar with cats. Yet, the cat with his adorable personality managed to capture the human’s heart. Nick shared videos with the orange cat on TikTok and people were invested in their story. “I think he adopted you,” one person even commented while another said, “You have been chosen.”
Nick then wanted to confirm whether the cat had an owner since he looked healthy and was comfortable around humans. After inquiring a local he was informed that the cat was a stray who lived in the area since he was young. This was all that Nick needed to hear. He decided to provide the cat with a forever home and named him Camper. Though going camping was Nick’s initial plan we are sure that he didn’t plan on coming back home with a cat, especially since he is a dog person. However, things worked for the better and we are happy the stray finally has a roof over his head.
