This Hawaiian Cat Sanctuary Has Over 600 Cats

If you are a cat lover then this right here is the ideal job for you. How would you feel about working in a sanctuary with over 600 cats? If you are interested, then the Lanai Cat Sanctuary is just the place for you. In this sanctuary, the cats are living their life to the fullest. The day of a cat living in this sanctuary begins early with breakfast. It takes around 100 pounds of cat food to feed all the hungry mouths at the sanctuary.

The job role of a caretaker at the sanctuary revolves around pampering these cats and attending to their needs. It is of utmost importance to make sure that they are treated like the royalty they are. When inquired as to what it is like working at the sanctuary one of the workers gave the following reply, “I really have the best job in the world. I’ve been doing this for 10 years and wouldn’t change anything for it!” Well we couldn’t agree more.

If you are in Hawaii, then you can surely visit this cat paradise. Their official website contains all the details you need to know before paying a visit. The Lanai Cat Sanctuary even hosts weddings to ensure that the cats socialize. “Our visitors don’t even realize they play such an important role in socializing our cats. So we host weddings!” a worker conveyed.

Kathy is the founder of the Lanai Cat Sanctuary and according to her, “All of this started with just one little injured kitten. Cats were starving, and getting hit by cars. No vet living on the island.” This inspired her to create a safe haven for these helpless creatures. Any feral cat is welcomed with open arms. The sanctuary does its level best to ensure that the cats are healthy and that they integrate into their new surroundings.

The aim of the sanctuary is to prepare the creatures for human companionship as it will increase their chances of finding their forever homes. Therefore, it would be nice if you could visit the sanctuary and assist them in their process of socialization. And who knows, you might even end up adopting a cat yourself. After all, they too deserve to be loved and cared for by a family of their own.
