Unity is a concept that we humans often tend to forget since we always focus on differences. If only we knew the value of harmony, then imagine the number of wars that could have been avoided. The world would be such a peaceful place if we were all united as one. Even though humans believe that their rationality makes them superior than animals, sometimes we have much to learn from the animal kingdom and especially from this particular story.
Mochi, the French bulldog and her human owner, Rylee Boland were spending some quality time in their house located in California when a small visitor decided to grace them with its presence. This visitor was none other than a monarch butterfly. The butterfly landed in the backyard and was seen warming its wings in the sun.
The excited doggo ran over to welcome the stranger and though Mochi was a playful pup she seemed to grasp that the butterfly was a delicate creature. Mochi made sure to be gentle with the monarch butterfly. “She was so sweet and did not want to hurt it. She is very well-behaved and has the kindest heart,” expressed Rylee. The butterfly also appeared to sense that the doggo meant no harm and lingered within sniffing distance.
The insect understood that Mochi was simply curious. Since the interaction between the two creatures was a calm one, Rylee was able to capture a few photographs. The contact lasted for around fifteen minutes and the butterfly then flew away. If this interaction made anything clear it was that Mochi was kindhearted and sweet and both the animals shared a sense of trust. It taught Mochi the important lesson of being gentle.
Before the monarch butterfly took flight, it landed on Rylee’s hand as well. As the doggo and butterfly made contact, in that single moment, there was perfect concord and the world was at peace. Rylee was able to observe the beauty that resided within this interaction and conveyed that, “It was an amazing experience.”
